OSU wrestlers Singletary, Kerkvliet win U23 Team trials

Ohio State wrestlers Chase Singletary and Greg Kerkvliet had a weekend to remember. They both won the U-23 Team trials by going undefeated and now are in prime position to wrestle for Team USA as a part of the U-23 squad.

Rising sophomore Singletary defeated former N.C. State wrestler Michael Boykin, while incoming freshman Kerkvliet out-dueled former Lehigh wreslter Jordan Wood who finished fourth at last year’s NCAA Championships.

Though the duo have a spot on team USA for now, if any of the under-23 wrestlers on the senior team decide to challenge their spots, they can do so. In other words, if any of them don’t make the Final X of senior Team USA wrestling squad, there’s a good chance that either Singletary or Kerkvliet may have to win one more match to stay on the team.

Either way, the future sure looks bright for the big men coming back to Ohio State next year.
