OSU’s Daniel Wetterich named Big Ten Golfer of the Week

We’ve got another Buckeye athlete recognized by the Big Ten. This time, it’s in men’s golf and goes to All-Big Ten Honoree Daniel Wetterich.

Here’s the complete release from Ohio State recognizing Wetterich.

COLUMBUS, Ohio. – Coming off the first win of his career, Ohio State senior Daniel Wetterich has been named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week.

The Cincinnati, Ohio native won the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate on the Scarlet Course at the OSU Golf Club with a two-round total of 133 (-9). He opened with a remarkable round of 2-under 69 in rainy and cool conditions. The weather improved for the second round and he made eight birdies in his round of 7-under 64. That vaulted him to a six-shot victory which was the first collegiate win of his career.

Behind Wetterich, the Buckeyes were able to overtake first round leader Michigan State and claim the Kepler Intercollegiate title for the 24th time in tournament history. This was also the third victory of the season for the team.

Wetterich leads the Buckeyes with a 71.30 scoring average and 22 of his 23 rounds have counted towards the team score. He and the Buckeyes head to Philadelphia Cricket Club this weekend for the Big Ten Championship.
