Ospreys v Leinster team news and kick-off time as Wales pair are surprise inclusions

Wales internationals Owen Watkin and Adam Beard are the surprise inclusions in the Ospreys side to face Leinster in the Guinness PRO14 encounter at The Gnoll on Friday evening (7.35pm).

The pair had been expected to be in contention for Wales squad spots for the game with France this weekend.

But with Wayne Pivac looking elsewhere, they are released back to the Ospreys.

Both players performed well for their region in the win over Ulster last time out. But their efforts in the 26-24 success haven’t been enough to swing them places against the French.

The Ospreys will see it as their gain. They make only one change to the side that started against Ulster, with Dan Baker coming in for Gareth Evans, who is undertaking a phased return to play after his comeback from injury last weekend.

And Morgan Morris is a travelling reserve.

It's a big evening for Olly Cracknell, who makes his 100th appearance for the Ospreys. The back rower made 24 tackles against Ulster in an outstanding personal personal display.

He'll want to maintain his form, while so will hooker Scott Otten.

Like Cracknell, Otten is unsung outside the Ospreys, but he has ambitions at national level.

"Of course I have," he said when asked that very question this week.

"This is why I’m playing as hard as I can for the Ospreys.

"Being here, being a professional for seven years at the club, I have learned a hell of a lot and I owe a lot to them.

"If a Wales call-up comes on the back of that, I’ll be pleased and my family will be pleased, but my main focus is to play for the Ospreys."

Forwards coach Carl Hogg will want another big show from Otten and from fellow front rowers Nicky Smith and Simon Gardiner, both of whom were prominent against Ulster.

Unbeaten in all competitions this season, with 17 wins from as many games, Leinster will look to their top-quality overseas trio of James Lowe, Jamison Gibson-Park and Scott Fardy to point the way.

Fardy captains a side that includes Rhys Ruddock at No. 8 and the promising Scott Penny at openside flanker.
