Ospreys forced to move as Llandarcy training base off limits

The Ospreys are shifting their training base to St Helen’s ahead of rugby resuming.

Their existing headquarters, at Llandarcy Academy of Sport, is off limits because of its role as a field hospital during the coronavirus crisis.

Equipment has been taken across to Swansea RFC’s ground in recent days.

The move has been described as a temporary one.

The Ospreys played out of St Helen’s and The Gnoll between 2003 and 2005 before the opening of the Liberty Stadium.

Confirming the switch on social media, the Ospreys said: “Ospreys will be making @swansearfc our temporary base whilst @LlandarcySport remains a field hospital to support @SwasneabayNHS.

“We’d like to thank @swansearfc & @SwanseaCouncil for all their help to make this happen.”

Llandarcy Academy of Sport was handed over to the Swansea Bay University Health Board at the start of the coronavirus pandemic and will be in operation until the end of 2020.

The Ospreys are set to resume on-pitch matters with a home fixture against the Dragons on August 22.
