Ospreys finally issue statement on Allen Clarke amid uncertainty

The Ospreys have finally broken their silence over the reported departure of head coach Allen Clarke.

On Tuesday news broke of Clarke’s apparent removal but 24 hours of silence ensued as the region kept their counsel.

The region’s fanbase have been kept in the dark amid a refusal to make any public comment.

The Ospreys have come under increasing pressure from their supporters to shed, at the very least, some light on the situation.

The region have now called for patience as they appear to be negotiating the departure of Clarke, who signed a three-year contract last year.

“We are currently in discussion with Allen Clarke and we hope to have a resolution shortly,” said the Ospreys statement.

“We understand the frustration of supporters but we would appreciate your patience.”

Earlier on Wednesday at the Guinness PRO14 mid-season launch fly-half James Hook and contact skills coach Richie Pugh were put in front of the media.

Before their press conference started media were informed that they were legally unable to speak on the topic of Clarke's apparent departure.

Hook said: “We’ve been told we can’t say too much and I’ve got to be honest I don’t know a lot myself.

“That’s the way it goes. I wish I did. I wish I could tell you more but I can’t.”

The Ospreys face the Cheetahs this Saturday at The Gnoll.
