Osher Günsberg Breaks Silence On Losing Hosting Duties On The Golden Bachelor

The Bachelor mainstay Osher Günsberg has reacted following news that the upcoming spinoff, The Golden Bachelor Australia, is moving ahead without him on hosting duties.

ICYMI, we’re getting another entry into the BCU (The Bachelor Cinematic Universe) with The Golden Bachelor, the forthcoming iteration that will follow a bunch of singles looking for love in their twilight years.

While Günsberg — who has fronted The Bachelor since it debuted in 2013 — might feel like the natural pick to take on hosting duties for the spinoff, we learned in November that the reality series would be migrating from Channel 10 to Channel 9, with Samantha Armytage replacing Günsberg as host.

It’s a glaring omission on par with that time I forgot to add guac to my burrito, with Günsberg now saying in an interview with Chattr that of the entire Bachelor crew migrating networks, “only one person lost their job — me.”

“The 110 other people who make that show, who I have known for ten years, kept working, and that is what matters,” Günsberg said.

“These incredibly skilled people are the only ones in the country who know how to make that show.”

The Aussie TV personality — who is currently busting a move on Dancing With The Stars — said he was especially “thrilled” for those involved in The Golden Bachelor because “our industry is shrinking”

“These jobs really need to be protected”, he said. “They’re all brilliant at what they do.”

Thankfully, there’s no bad blood between Günsberg and Armytage, with the former saying “Sam’s gonna do a cracking job” in her role as The Golden Bachelor host.

“This is the business I’ve chosen,” Günsberg added of the job loss.

“If I didn’t want to be losing my job, I’d go work in an office. I chose this life, and I know this is a part of it.”

For better or worse, the Günsberg-less season of The Golden Bachelor is set to arrive on Channel 9 sometime this year (no official release date has been announced), with 50-something year-old Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden on board as the titular love-seeker.

In the meantime, Günsberg is still blessing TV screens on DWTS, which we absolutely love to see, whether he gets the so-called “villain edit” or not.
