Viewers of the Oscars red carpet are expressing their confusion after Ryan Seacrest seemingly adopted an Irish accent while speaking to Saoirse Ronan.
The E! News coverage saw Seacrest speak to a host of nominated figures, one of whom included the Little Woman star who is nominated for Best Actress.
But those watching along could not help but notice that the presenter put on a phony accent while speaking to her.
One viewer accused him of “lowkey mocking” Ronan on Twitter.
“Soooo Ryan Seacrest just lowkey mocked Saoirse Ronan’s accent at the end of his red carpet Oscars interview with her. What on earth.”
Another person wrote: “Ryan Seacrest did just pull a full on Irish accent in that Q&A with Saoirse Ronan, right?” while someone else claimed he adopted an accent while interviewing Salma Hayek earlier on in the evening.
For the second year running, the Oscars will have no presenter.
Nominations-wise, Joker leads this year’s pack with 11, while The Irishman and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood follow close behind with 10.
