Oscars bosses hoping for dry event after recent torrential rain in Los Angeles

Oscars bosses are praying for dry weather on Sunday - after torrential downpours in LA caused rain to pour through the ceiling onto the red carpet.

Hastily-arranged buckets had to be set up on the carpet to capture water cascading through the fabric covered roof.

The rain comes just 48 hours before the world’s biggest stars walk down the same red carpet. Workers were also forced to sweep water away from the entrance area with huge mops as LA was hit by a massive storm.

Sunday’s forecast is supposed to be dry and overcast but such is the unpredictability of the weather at the moment that anything is possible.

A source said: "Bosses will be praying to the weather gods that it stays nice and dry.

"The celebrities are supposed to be undercover but as Friday proved nothing is infallible and the rain has a way of finding its way in."

The weather is also causing chaos for many of the pre-Oscars events taking place in the days before the ceremony.

Many of the parties don’t have covered walkways like the Oscars - exposing the celebrities to the elements.

One source said: "Locals haven’t seen anything like it and it’s unlike any Oscars ever. It’s usually the Baftas in Britain which is hit by the rain and cold - never the US Awards."

Some of the world's leading actors will be hoping to collect an Academy Award on Sunday evening but some are just grateful to be invited to the illustrious event at the Dolby Theatre.

And it is no surprise when you see the goodie bags that some of the guests receive, which among many things includes a luxury holiday and liposuction treatment with a world-leading surgeon.

During an appearance on ITV's Lorraine, Hollywood reporter Ross King had a sneak peek at what a select number of A-listers will get before gracing the red carpet.

Speaking to Distinctive Assets founder Lash Fary, who is in charge of getting the goodie bags together, Ross was told that the total value was over $126,000.

"We've got a $40,00 vacation for them to some place called The Lifestyle," Lash explained before adding: "This is a ten-acre estate in Canada, we've got a $9,000 trip to Italy for them.

"This is a lighthouse that's been converted into a luxury hotel for them and seven friends.

"We've got liposuction for them with Dr Thomas Su – the list goes on and on, so many great things."

Other items include lavish watches, jewellery, foot spas, a surfboard, health and wellness products, organic coconut water, books, medical test, San Pellegrino water and wine.

Lash revealed that the goodie bags, which will come in a suitcase due to the amount of gifts inside, will be shipped to wherever the guest wants.
