Oscars 2022: Full rundown of everything that Kenneth Branagh's Belfast is nominated for at this year's award ceremony

Kenneth Branagh's Belfast warmed the hearts of people not just in Northern Ireland but across the world when it was released in theatres.

So it's unsurprising that it has one of the big names tipped to take home some of the top accolades this awards season.

Last month, it was announced that Kenneth Branagh broke a new record at the Oscars when Belfast received seven nominations, making him the first person to receive seven nominations in seven different categories throughout his career.

Unfortunately, Kenneth Branagh and Ciaran Hinds have both tested positive for coronavirus just days before the Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.

Both are understood to be isolating in New York.

It is understood Branagh will not be able to attend the Academy Awards in person and will send a pre-recorded acceptance speech instead.

Here are the nominations to keep an eye out for at Sunday's Oscar ceremony:

  • Best Supporting Actress - Judi Dench

  • Best Sound - Belfast

  • Best Original Screenplay - Kenneth Branagh

  • Best Supporting Actor - Ciaran Hinds

  • Best Song - 'Down To Joy' by Van Morrison

  • Best Director - Kenneth Branagh

  • Best Picture - Belfast

Earlier this month, 'Belfast' won the Outstanding British Film award at the BAFTAs.

The film's star, 11-year-old Jude Hill who plays the leading role, Buddy, scooped the Critic's Choice Award for Best Young Actor earlier this month too.

This year's ceremony will kick off at 8pm on Sunday Eastern Time in the US which is 1am here in the early hours of Monday, March 28.
