Oscars 2020 winner Parasite's translator Sharon Choi hailed for 'kick-a** job'

Parasite sent shock waves through Hollywood as the South Korean film became the first non-English speaking movie to win Best Picture at the Oscars.

The Bong Joon-ho directed black comedy thriller picked up four statuettes in total at the 92nd Annual Academy Awards.

This meant multiple trips up to the stage for the director and associated entourage which included his translator Sharon Choi, who has been hailed for her performance throughout the night.

The 25-year-old Korean-American almost stole the show from the Parasite crew as she translated Bong Joon-Ho's acceptance speeches, which included Best Director as well as the Best Picture.

She has become a regular of the awards season as the cast and crew of Parasite pick up gongs across the ceremonies.

Choi has won many admirers at how seamlessly she translates from Korean into English, keeping the personality of the comment with it.

Her hard work has not gone unnoticed by viewers at home though and Choi has been hailed on social media for her "kick-a**" efforts.

One viewer tweeted: "Translation is incredibly difficult but what’s even more challenging is interpreting and I truly cannot stress enough how incredibly brilliant Sharon Choi is."

Even the normally hard-to-please Piers Morgan was impressed, tweeting: "Sharon Choi is tonight’s unsung hero. World’s best translator."

Others joined the thousands of tweets in praise of Choi, with one writing: "Hats off to Parasite but truly the interpreter! She has done a kick a** job all night!"

Another tweeted: "Let's also congrats to the MVP of the awards season. Sharon Choi- the interpreter! #Parasite #Oscars #Oscar2020"

Choi is actually a filmmaker herself and has hopes of returning to the Oscars stage as a winner in her own right at some point.

She recently sat with Bong on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, as the director looked to give a spoiler-free synopsis of Parasite, saying it is the story of two families - one rich, one poor.

Choi interpreted Bongs words: "I'd like to say as little as possible here, because the film is best when you go into it cold."
