Oscars 2020: Kristin Wiig and Maya Rudolph have Martin Scorsese in stitches with audition skit

Maya Rudolph and Kristin Wiig received some of the biggest laughs at this year’s Oscars ceremony by using their monologue as an audition.

The duo were presenting the award for Best Production Design, which went to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’s Barbara Ling and Nancy Haigh.

After pretending they were “PO’d” (pissed off) and “really mad”, the pair turned away for a moment before facing the audience again.

“We’re not mad,” Wiig said. “That was an act,” Rudolph explained. “We were acting.”

“Yeah, we don’t just do comedy,” Wiig said.

The Irishman director Martin Scorsese was seen laughing as the pair eventually reached the award announcement.

They later performed a medley of songs about fashion, including “Thong Song” and “Vogue”, to present the award for Best Costume Design.
