Oscars 2019: Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet wear outfits (and scrunchies) designed by Karl Lagerfeld

Actors Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet have paid tribute to the late Karl Lagerfeld at the 2019 Oscars.

On 19 February, luxury fashion house Chanel announced its creative director had died at the age of 85 in Paris, France.

Tonight, the married couple took to the red carpet in matching blush pink ensembles and later revealed their outfits were designed by the late designer, who was also the creative director at Italian fashion label Fendi.

"We have the honour of wearing Karl Lagerfeld,” said Bonet, dressed in a  lilac and blush pink sheer skirt and panelled dress, during an interview with model Ashley Graham on MTV News ahead of the ceremony.

“He designed Jason’s tux personally for him and this is from his last couture collection from Fendi,” she added, laying her hand on her husband’s outfit which featured a brown lapel.

Graham described the pair’s looks as “beautiful” and added: “What a great way to honour [Lagerfeld] tonight.”

Momoa also honoured the late designer by wearing a matching-coloured hair scrunchie on his right wrist which featured a small Fendi tag.

Unsurprisingly, the actor's choice of hair accessory hasn't gone unnoticed by fans on Twitter.

"I'll just be here, waiting for Jason Momoa to put that scrunchie in his hair," wrote one user.

Another commented: "PSA: Jason Momoa matched his pink suit to Lisa Bonet's dress, and also his pink scrunchie."

"Jason Momoa is trending because he wore a pink velvet Fendi scrunchie to the Oscars! FASHION SAVED TWITTER!" wrote another sartorial fan.

Following Lagerfeld's death, Chanel announced former fashion creation studio director at the label Virginie Viard would be his successor.

Two days after his death, Silvia Venturini Fendi cried as she took an emotional bow at the end of the Fendi autumn/winter 2019 show which marked Lagerfeld's last at the fashion house.

After model Gigi Hadid closed the show, an emotional Venturini Fendi - who is the granddaughter of Fendi's founders and creative director for accessories, menswear, and children - walked out onto the runway to the applause of the attendees.

As she left, a screen played a video of Lagerfeld sketching the outfit he wore on his first day working at Fendi in 1965.
