Oscar-winning movie set for star-studded West End adaptation

  • Keira Knightley is scheduled to make her return to the West End stage after an absence of nearly 15 years, starring in a theatrical adaptation of the Oscar-winning film The Lives of Others.
  • The acclaimed actor will share the stage with Luke Thompson from Bridgerton and Stephen Dillane from Game of Thrones in the production.
  • Based on the 2006 Academy Award-winning film, the play is set in 1984 East Germany, focusing on a writer and his actress lover who become targets of state surveillance, and the Stasi officer monitoring them.
  • Adapted and directed by the acclaimed playwright Robert Icke, the production is slated to run at London’s Adelphi Theatre from October 2026 until January 2027.
  • Sonia Friedman Productions, known for several current West End hits, is bringing The Lives of Others to the stage, with Friedman highlighting the film's haunting quality and Icke's ability to translate it for theatre.
