Oscar: New Shawlands bar and kitchen with French twist opens on Kilmarnock Road

An exciting new food and drink spot has opened in the south side of Glasgow with the arrival of Oscar.

Work has been ongoing for a number of weeks to transfer the former Batter ‘N fish and chip takeaway into a modern fine dining space serving up dishes 'with a French twist' at the junction of Kilmarnock Road and Skirving Street.

And on Monday, the beautifully-decorated venue welcomed in its first diners.

Oscar is described by owners as "offering vibrant new brunch dishes and seasonal small plates with a traditional French twist.

"Seated in our cosy and characterful dining area, you can enjoy fresh, locally sourced ingredients, simply and elegantly crafted to bring modern fine dining to the Southside."

Lemon and blueberry pancakes are also on the menu (Instagram @oscar_barkitchen)

Menu items include the likes of crab gnocci, pork belly and braised ox cheek, while there's also an extensive selection of vegan options.

Complementing this is a comprehensive drinks menu featuring a series of cocktails, international beers and plenty of wine choices too.

And, sure to be a huge hit in the heart of the Shawlands, Oscar brings its very own brunch game to Kilmarnock Road including baked eggs, burrata and Stornoway black pudding plates.

This is certainly one visiting the south side for.

For more information, you can visit the Oscar website here or visit their Instagram page here.

Oscar, at 1 Kilmarnock Road, is open from 10am - 10pm.
