Osaze Urhoghide offered Celtic chance to impress as forgotten defender set for first taste of action

Osaze Urhoghide has been handed his first taste of competitive action for Celtic after he was named in the starting XI for the B team.

The young Hoops side face Greenock Morton on Saturday in the SPFL Trust Trophy second round.

He arrived at Parkhead alongside Sheffield Wednesday man Liam Shaw, who also features this afternoon for Celtic's second side.

Shaw has already pulled on the green and white hoops for Celtic B, having played in the first round tie of the competition, in a 2-0 win against Annan Athletic.

Urhoghide will get a much needed taste of competitive football, after completing his move from the English League One side.

He has already had competitive first team football under his belt, after featuring 21 times for Sheffield Wednesday over the previous two campaigns.

Urhoghide represents a promising option for manager Ange Postecoglou who acted on deadline day to improve the defence at Celtic by signing Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers on loan.

That was after the arrival of Ireland defender Liam Scales from Shamrock Rovers.

Celtic also have an option to make the deal for Carter-Vickers a permanent one.
