In response to the ongoing spread of novel coronavirus infections, a manufacturer based in Osaka City is increasing production of medical tents that can isolate patients and provide examination bays. Taiyo Kogyo Corp. manufactures large tents, including the one used as the roof of the Tokyo Dome.

Taiyo Kogyo's negative-pressure tents are designed to maintain a low internal air pressure to minimize virus spreading outside. They measure four meters wide, 2.5 meters high and five meters deep.

Steps to prevent secondary infections of medical workers, such as directing the airflow in the tent in a certain direction, have been taken. The tents were delivered to medical institutions in Japan and overseas when a new strain of influenza broke out in 2009.

As the number of patients with the new coronavirus continues to increase worldwide, the company has been receiving many orders and inquiries from hospitals and welfare facilities.
