Flights to and from Osaka in Japan have been suspended after Typhoon Jebi damaged the only access bridge to Kansai International Airport.
Thai Airways International Plc (THAI) has suspended services to and from Osaka until at least Sept 11, the airline announced yesterday.
Passengers can change their flights free of charge by Sept 15, the national carrier said.
Thai AirAsia X said passengers with tickets to fly between Bangkok and Osaka from Tuesday until Sept 12 can change their tickets free of charge within 30 days, or claim a refund.
The airline was laying on special flights between Nagoya and Bangkok to help stranded passengers tomorrow.
Japanese authorities were forced yesterday to evacuate passengers trapped at Kansai airport when a tanker slammed into its only access bridge.
The collision left the artificial island housing the airport temporarily cut off, stranding 3,000 travellers overnight as high waves flooded the runways and several buildings, knocking out power.
An official told reporters it was unclear when the airport could be reopened, while Kyodo News said it could take up to a week.
