LONDON -- Naomi Osaka will get a chance to make her Olympic debut after being assured a spot at the Tokyo Olympics following the release Monday of the latest world tennis rankings, where she remained as the WTA's No. 2-ranked player.
The top 56 players in this week's rankings -- up to a maximum of four per country or region -- in both men's and women's singles automatically earn places at the Tokyo Games.
In the men's rankings, Yoshihito Nishioka moved up one spot to 56th, moving ahead of Kei Nishikori as the highest-ranked Japanese. Nishikori dropped from 49th to 57th.
