Orpington house fire: Police launch probe after woman, 45, dies in blaze at family home

Police have launched an investigation after a 45-year-old woman was found dead following a house fire.

A man and two children were also taken to hospital following the blaze on Cray Avenue, in Orpington, on Monday.

Scotland Yard said the two youngsters, a boy and a girl, are not believed to be in a life-threatening condition. Their ages are unknown.

A 45-year-old man remains in a life-threatening condition in hospital.

Police said the occupants of the house are believed to be family members.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency Services were called to the scene at about 11.15pm.

The London Fire Brigade said firefighters were able to control the fire by 12.30am.

Part of the ground floor, first floor and staircase of the home were damaged in the blaze.

Video footage showed multiple fire engines outside the home, as the force battled to control the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the police and the LFB.
