A house-breaker armed with a screwdriver has fled a home after being confronted by the occupant.
Police say they are investigating the “report of an aggravated burglary” at the house in Burmah Street off the Ormeau Road in South Belfast , in the early hours of this morning (Saturday June 29).
Detective Sergeant Sam McCallum said: “A report was received at around 5.45am that a man had forced entry to the house and threatened a male occupant with a screwdriver after being confronted. The intruder then fled the property empty handed.
“He was described as being around 5’9” tall, of medium build, aged in his 30’s and was wearing a grey baseball cap with a white trim on the peak, a dark grey hoodie with a curved logo and dark trousers. He was also carrying a dark rucksack.
“I would ask anyone who saw a male matching this description in the area of Burmah Street or who has any information about this incident to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 509 29/06/19.”
The officer added that witnesses can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
