Ormeau Road closed by PSNI after multi-vehicle collision

Diversions have been put in place following a collision in South Belfast involving multiple vehicles.

Police have closed a section of the Ormeau Road this morning, between Annadale Avenue and the Ormeau Road/ Ravenhill Road roundabout and are asking people to avoid the area if possible.

Drivers are being told to expect delays with traffic being impacted in both directions.

A diversion for those going towards Belfast City Centre have been put in place on Annadale Avenue and Knockbreda Park for those going out of the city.

Traffic Watch NI said: "Multi vehicle road traffic collision A24 Ormeau Rd at Jct Annadale Ave - impacting traffic in both directions  - Police attending - expect delays - traffic being diverted into town via Annadale Avenue and out of town Knockbreda Road."

Translink has warned that bus routes in the area will face delays, but as of yet there has been no diversions put in places for buses.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Due to a road traffic collision the Ormeau Road is closed between Annadale Avenue and the Ravenhill/Ormeau Road roundabout. Please avoid the area if possible."
