Orly Airport: Plane evacuated after man brings knife on board 'to carry out attack'

A plane near the runway at Paris's Orly Airport has been evacuated after reports a man brought a knife on board and planned to 'carry out an attack', according to reports.

The Transavia flight was due to fly to Barcelona.

One passenger said: "Flight Orly Barcelona !! We have been evicted for possible terrorist threat.

"We are on the runway and we had to leave all hand luggage on the plane."

According to reports in France the man's sister contacted the airport to warn them that her brother planned to commit an attack.

French media has indicated the arrested man, thought to have been armed with a ceramic knife, was not known to counter terror officials.

A man at the airport tweeted: "There's a Transavia plane surrounded by cops and firefighters".

There have not been reports of any injuries.

On Monday, an Indian national was arrested by Border Police (PAF) officials at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport.

She had managed to travel with a loaded pistol in her cabin luggage.
