Orlando shooting: Disney donates $1 million to victims

Disney has donated $1 million to help victims of the deadliest mass shooting in US history.

Orland Mayor Buddy Dyer made the announcement on Tuesday revealing that The Walt Disney Company donated money to the OneOrlando organization, established to help victims of the shooting at the Pulse nightclub this week.

“We are heartbroken by this tragedy and hope our commitment will help those in the community affected by this senseless act,” Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Bob Chapek said in a statement. “With 74,000 cast members who call Orlando home, we mourn the loss of the victims and offer our condolences to their families, friends and loved ones.”

Forty-nine people were killed and 53 others injured after the 29-year-old shooter opened fire inside the LGBT nightclub.

Mayor Dyer also thanked the company for their donation on Twitter.

“Thank you Walt Disney Co. for donating $1 million to One Orlando,” he wrote. Mayor Dyer also announced that JetBlue contributed $100,000 to the fund.
