ORLANDO, Fla. _ An Orlando man accused of posting online threats toward the LGBT community in South Florida was indicted Thursday in federal court.
According to court documents, Craig Allen Jungwirth, 50, posted threats against the LGBT community at Wilton Manors on Facebook on Aug. 30.
Wifredo A. Ferrer, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, the FBI and members of the South Florida Joint Terrorism Task Force announced Thursday that Jungwirth was indicted on a charge of the interstate transmission of a threatening communication.
Documents previously detailed the alarming Facebook post that referenced the June 12 Pulse nightclub shooting that killed 49 people and injured more than 50.
"My events are selling out 'cause you (expletive) are total patsies," Jungworth wrote. "None of you deserve to live. If you losers thought the Pulse nightclub shooting was bad, wait till you see what I'm planning for Labor Day ... You can never catch a genius from MIT and since you (expletives) aren't dying from AIDS anymore, I have a better solution to exterminate you losers ... I'm gonna be killing you (expletive). ... It's time to clean up Wilton Manors from all you AIDS infested losers."
FBI agents interviewed witnesses who told them that Jungwirth "advertises himself as an event and part promoter in Wilton Manors."
After the threats, police in Wilton Manors, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Orange County increased patrols.
Orlando Police said they had been in close contact with South Florida law enforcement since the threats and had been "working closely with them."
Jungwirth was arrested Sept. 3 by the Florida Highway Patrol in Osceola County on an unrelated charge of driving on a suspended license.
If convicted, Jungwirth faces five years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.
