Orlando Franklin is convinced Broncos won’t draft a QB

Former Denver Broncos offensive lineman Orlando Franklin seems to be convinced the team won’t select a quarterback in this year’s NFL draft. Franklin, who now works for 104.3 The Fan in Denver, said earlier this week that he will get a tattoo if the team selects a QB.

“There’s no chance that they do that,” Franklin said, via The Denver Post‘s Joe Nguyen. “If you would’ve identified Drew Lock or Dan Jones as the guy that you were going to draft … if you believed in any of these quarterbacks, Case Keenum would’ve gotten restructured. Or he would have gotten released.”

That’s faulty reasoning from Franklin because the Broncos may still release Keenum after the start of the new league year. If Denver is unable to find a trade partner for Keenum, the team may restructure the QB’s contract or cut him.

Franklin apparently didn’t take that into consideration. The offensive lineman said he will get a tattoo with the QB’s number in his school’s colors if the Broncos select one in April.

Draft Wire’s most recent mock has the team trading up for Lock.
