Orlando Bloom revealed he has applied for an Irish passport following his split from Katy Perry.
The actor - whose grandfather was Northern Irish - parted ways with pop star Perry in June after nine years together.
The 48-year-old revealed he wanted to embrace his Irish heritage and make getting around Europe easier post-Brexit.
“I’m getting my Irish passport. [My grandfather] was actually from Northern Ireland,” he said on Virgin Radio.
Irish broadcaster Ryan Tubridy replied: “And there’s a lot of people from the UK who, after a certain political move, found themselves looking for a granny down the back of the couch.”
The Pirates of the Caribbean star laughed and said: “Part of it was actually just for work, like, when I was working in Prague for a while, [there was] a whole bunch of new paperwork.”

Bloom, who was born in Canterbury, Kent, added: “And also, I love the fact that I’ve got Irish heritage. That’s all it is.”
The Lord of the Rings star plays a retired Irish boxer in psychological thriller The Cut, which is released this week.
This isn’t the first time Bloom has embraced his Irish roots as he previously surprised pub goers by singing a folk song on St Patrick’s Day.
Bloom belted out the Irish classic, She Moved Through the Fair, on the stage at The Alma pub in Windsor in 2023.
The movie star announced his split from Perry, 40, earlier this summer. The exes share four-year-old daughter, Daisy.
They shared a statement saying they have been “shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.”

They added: “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.”
The news came after Bloom sparked split rumours by attending billionaire Jeff Bezos’ luxury Italian wedding alone.
Tension in the stars’ relationship is believed to have been brewing since September when Perry released her latest album, 143. It was the lowest scoring album on a review site in over a decade.
Perry also faced backlash after blasting into space on one of Bezos’s Blue Origin planes in April, with some describing the trip as “tone deaf,” given the current cost-of-living and environmental crises.
The singer subsequently confessed that she was feeling “battered and bruised” by the online reaction - with Bloom apparently not pleased with the trip either.
