April 29--White Sox left-hander John Danks gave up four runs in the third inning -- including back-to-back homers -- as the Sox fell in a 5-2 hole against the Orioles on Thursday night at Camden Yards.
Manny Machado hit an RBI double, Chris Davis hit a two-run homer, and Mark Trumbo gave the Orioles their third instance of back-to-back homers this season.
Todd Frazier's two-run homer gave the Sox an early 2-1 lead.
Jose Abreu singled with two outs in the first inning, and Frazier followed with a shot to left field off Orioles right-hander Tyler Wilson.
The Orioles cut into the lead in the bottom of the first when Adam Jones hit a double to center field off Danks with two men on base. One run scored, but the Sox caught Chris Davis at home on a relay from Austin Jackson to Jimmy Rollins to Hector Sanchez.
The Sox are two victories shy of breaking the franchise record of 17 wins in April. They'll have to win two of their next three in Baltimore to break the mark set in 2000, 2005 and 2006.
The Sox entered the four-game series on a six-game winning streak after sweeping back-to-back series against the Rangers and Blue Jays.
The Sox will be without closer David Robertson, who is on the bereavement list following the death of his father-in-law. He is expected to return Sunday, Ventura said, and relievers Nate Jones, Matt Albers and Zach Duke could replace him in the ninth until then.
