Orioles eliminated from postseason with 11th-inning loss in Toronto

TORONTO _ Toronto Blue Jays slugger Edwin Encarnacion hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to end the Orioles' season in the American League wild-card game with a 5-2 loss at Rogers Centre.

Ubaldo Jimenez allowed the home run. He was the Orioles' eighth pitcher of the night, and entered in the 11th.

Manager Buck Showalter never turned to closer Zach Britton, who had an ERA of 0.54 during the regular season in 69 appearances.

The Orioles took a 2-1 lead on a home run by Mark Trumbo in the fourth inning, but the Blue Jays tied the game in the fifth off Chris Tillman, who didn't make it out of the inning.

The teams were scoreless for the next 5 { innings before Encarnacion ended the game with the no-doubter to left field.
