Orient Star continues its 75th anniversary celebrations with new M45 F7 Small Seconds watch

Orient Star M45 F7 Small Seconds.

QUICK SUMMARY

Orient Star has launched three new versions of the M45 F7 Small Seconds watch for its 75th anniversary.

With prices starting at £869.99, the new Orient Star M45 F7 Small Seconds have dual-layered dials in green, beige or grey colourways.

Orient Star is celebrating its 75th anniversary with three versions of its M45 F7 Small Seconds watch. Expanding its Classic Collection M45, the new Orient Star M45 F7 Small Seconds comes in three different colourways, and features the brand’s simplest dials and most compact cases.

As part of its 75th anniversary celebrations, Orient Star has launched many new timepieces, including the Orient Star M43 Diver 1964 1st edition F8 Date 200m – a bit of a mouthful but a beautiful dive watch nonetheless – and a Contemporary Date which we got hands-on with.

But Orient Star isn’t slowing down the celebrations anytime soon, and has now launched three editions of its Orient Star M45 F7 Small Seconds. The main difference between the three versions is the dial colours – the RE-BS0001E reference is green, the RE-BS0002S reference is beige and the RE-BS0003N has a grey shade which is a limited edition.

Sitting in a 39mm stainless steel case, the dual-layered dial of the Orient Star M45 F7 Small Seconds has a lot more than initially meets the eye. While it lacks a calendar, the dial has Roman numerals, hour and minute hands, a power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock, and a small seconds display at six o'clock.

The hands of the Orient Star M45 F7 Small Seconds have a subtle leaf shape which adds more movement to the watch. A railway-track minute scale loops around the dial, with most of its accents having a sandblasted finish which gives the dial a subtle, scratch-like texture.

Powered by the F7H44 in-house automatic calibre, the movement has a high accuracy of +15 seconds to -5 seconds per day. As the case is slim, the movement is compact, too, and can be seen via the sapphire crystal caseback. The caseback is also engraved with ‘Orient Star 75th Anniversary’ and a serial number.

With a 50 hour power reserve, the Orient Star M45 F7 Small Seconds is finished with a leather strap – brown for the green and beige, and black for the grey. These timepieces are definitely the most minimalist watches from the brand’s 75th anniversary launches, but they’re classic and ideal for everyday wear, making them a worthy celebratory piece.

The Orient Star M45 F7 Small Seconds watches are available to buy now with prices starting at £869.99. The grey version is limited to just 500 pieces.
