Organisers forced to cancel rescheduled Circuit of Ireland Rally

Organisers of the Circuit of Ireland International Rally have cancelled this year's rescheduled event.

The Ulster Automobile Club had secured a date in November to run the rally.

But on Thursday they confirmed the 2020 running won't take place in the "interests of public health and safety" due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

"Planning has already started for Easter 2021, when, pandemic permitting, we will celebrate the 90th anniversary of the event we now fondly call the 'Circuit'," the Ulster Automobile Club said.

Meanwhile, the UAC has cancelled three more events due to the coronavirus crisis.

The Simon Brien Residential Craigantlet Hill Climb won't take place this year, while two other ANICC Championship events - the Autotest in August and September's Knockagh Hill Climb - have also been cancelled.
