Organisers apologise for 'any disappointment' after New Ferry Festival in the Park is cancelled

Wirral's New Ferry Festival in the Park has been cancelled hours before it was due to start, Wirral Council has confirmed.

It was set to take place throughout today (Saturday, June 15) and tomorrow (Sunday, June 16) but due to the recent bad weather it will not be going ahead.

Organisers have now issued an apology for causing "any disappointment" for anyone hoping to attend. The new was confirmed this morning in a tweet sent out by Wirral Council .

The tweet said: "Unfortunately, this weekend's New Ferry Festival in the Park has been cancelled because of this week's bad weather.

"The organisers apologise for any disappointment but hope to reschedule for later this year."

This year was set to mark the third annual New Ferry Festival in the Park with a fun fair, bouncy castles, a dog show and more among the entertainment visitors had to look forward to.

This week has saw most of the country hit with heavy rain and flooding in many parts. We'll bring you the latest updates when a new date has been arranged.
