Oregon motorist speeds along flooded highway in boat

Flooding in Corvallis, Oregon, has prompted authorities to close highways and roads throughout much of the region, and issue warnings about the danger of attempting to drive through standing water.

But that didn’t stop one motorist who used a boat to dash at high speed across and alongside a flooded portion of Highway 34.

The footage was shared by KATU News, which reported Wednesday that the Willamette River in Corvallis had begun to crest by about noon, causing much of the flooding.

The Oregon State Police cautioned that Highway 34 was under four feet of water in places.

The City of Corvallis listed several streets that remained closed until further notice.

Floodwaters caused by heavy rains were supposed to begin receding on Thursday.
