Orange Twirls are back on sale in Bristol

They were the chocolate bar craze of 2019, but now confectioners Cadbury's have brought some post-lockdown joy to fans of chocolate orange by bringing back the Orange Twirl.

Reports are coming in of the bars being available at selected stores in the city, including smaller branches of Tesco.

One customer photographed full shelves at the Tesco branch in North Street, Bedminster.

Last autumn, the orange Twirls suddenly appeared in limited numbers in convenience stores in Bristol, and sold out quickly - with people setting up whatsapp groups to share information about which outlets still had them, or had got new supplies in.

Within just a couple of weeks, the craze ended as Cadbury's stopped producing them, but earlier this summer the Birmingham-based sweets giant teased that they would be back in September.

Cadbury's even launched what was almost certainly the first pre-order system for a chocolate bar - as if it was a pop star's next hit album - giving people the chance to register to buy the 70p treats in advance of everyone else, and in advance of them appearing in the shops.

That happened in August, and now the non-VIPs can get their hands on them again.

It is uncertain how long Cadbury's will be making them, but said they would be making more than last year so they would be in the shops for longer.
