Optional extras are rich pickings for wealthy car owners

OPTIONAL extras available for wealthy motorists show “how the other half drive”. Research by automotive firm Leasing Options reveals the super-rich can choose some eye-wateringly priced add-ons for their supercars.

Top of its list is the Bugatti Veyron Carbon Finish – offered for £250,000, some £20,000 more than the average price of a house in the UK.

At more than seven times the typical UK wage, that sum could buy you about 2780 weekly food shops, 100 weeks at Disneyworld, 35 first-class tickets from London to LA or 20 years’ lease of a supercharged Jaguar F-Type.

Second on the outrageous extras list is the £132,000 Breitling clock for the Bentley Bentayga, while third is the £52,000 for a Liquid Metal paint finish for a Porsche 918 Spyder. These are followed by £49,500 for the Mercedes-Maybach Granite Interior and £28,500 for a Rolls-Royce Phantom rear seat divider.

Two other Roller items feature in the top 10 – a £16,000 drinks cabinet and £10,000 Phantom Starlight roof. Also on the list are an Aston Martin Jaeger-LeCoultre Transponder watch (£25,000), BMW i8 Louis Vuitton luggage set (£16,500) and Lexus LS reclining back seats (£13,500).
