Oprah Winfrey becomes first black woman on Bloomberg's 500 richest people list

Even Oprah Winfrey's money is breaking records.

The media mogul cracked the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, a ranking of the 500 richest people in the world, which was released Monday. Her fortune hit $4 billion, making her the first black woman on the list.

The 64-year-old icon built her legacy _ and her wealth _ on the "Oprah Winfrey Show" and her cable network, OWN. Her latest bump comes from her shares in Weight Watchers, which has pushed her up an extra $427 million this year alone, according to Bloomberg.

She also just signed a multiyear deal with Apple, which plans to spend $1 billion on original content in an arms race with Netflix, Amazon and Hulu.

Winfrey currently holds the No. 494 spot on the Bloomberg Billionaires list, coming in behind Mark Cuban and Ross Perot. The top 500 richest people now include 65 women and just six female entrepreneurs.
