Oprah targeted by QAnon conspiracists claiming Meghan and Harry chat was faked with CGI

Oprah Winfrey has been targeted by QAnon conspiracy theorists who think her interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry was faked using CGI technology.

The TV queen sat for a tell-all chat with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the interview was broadcast across the globe this week.

As well as dividing opinion with Meghan and Harry's bombshell claims about their life in the royal family, the programme has also been targeted by conspiracists peddling a series of bizarre and untrue theories.

One of these false claims is that the whole interview was faked using computer-generated imagery, while another falsely suggests Oprah was wearing an ankle monitor.

A tweet referencing the false theories swirling around the interview read: "1.Oprah had an ankle-monitor (meaning she's under arrest for child murder crimes).

"2. The whole interview was CGI and she's really been executed, but the CGI people made it look like Oprah has an ankle monitor anyway."

Oprah was not wearing an ankle monitor in the interview and has not been arrested for any crime - the chat with the couple was also not faked using CGI.

The TV star has previously been the target of false claims by followers of QAnon - which is a collection of completely unfounded theories that have been spread online.

Last year, Oprah was forced to address some QAnon's false claims on Twitter, writing: "Just got a phone call that my name is trending.

"And being trolled for some awful FAKE thing. It’s NOT TRUE. Haven’t been raided, or arrested.

"Just sanitizing and self distancing with the rest of the world. Stay safe everybody."

QAnon started as a series of hoax posts on message board 4Chan before spreading across other social media channels.

Followers believe in a series of wild conspiracy theories said to have been posted anonymously by the mysterious "Q".

Many of the theories falsely suggests America is plagued by a ring of high-profile child-sex predators which includes Hollywood stars and politicians.

The wide-ranging conspiracy theorists have even gone as far as to falsely suggest US President Joe Biden 's inauguration was faked with other followers seemingly believing he's actually a robot wearing human-like skin.

Some social media sites, including Twitter and Facebook, have started cracking down on account sharing the bizarre QAnon theories in recent months.
