Opportunity knocks for Jurgen Klopp to match Liverpool run started by Bob Paisley

This Liverpool team is very used to obliterating all kinds of long-standing and incredible records.

This season alone the team have already posted the best start to a league campaign in the history of European football, the most consecutive home wins in the English top flight and the most points across 38 Premier League games while a plethora of individual records are now owned by players in Jurgen Klopp's squad.

The Reds now have the opportunity to win the title the latest it has ever been won due the coronavirus pandemic and are likely set a record that will never be broken, while they can also win it with the most remaining games ever alongside having the biggest margin of points over second by the end of the term and the most points ever overall.

If they win six of their remaining nine games, that will also see them set a new record for the most amount of matches won in a single campaign which currently stands at 32.

Now, the first match back for Liverpool after lockdown restrictions were eased is set to be played against Everton on June 21.

And like in so many other games this term, the European champions have an opportunity to match a club record.

This one began in 1981 when the Reds went unbeaten in 22 games against Aston Villa up until 1992.

Right now, Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 21 games against Everton - the Blues last beat the Reds back in October 2010 at Goodison Park.

That means a win or draw with Everton would see Klopp's men continue their run and match the long-standing club record against Villa.

A result would also present an opportunity for the world champions to eclipse that record in their next meeting with Everton in the 2020/21 campaign.
