Universal’s Oppenheimer emerged as the big winner at the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards, clinching the top prize for best cast in a film, along with individual awards for lead and supporting actors. Cillian Murphy's portrayal of the renowned scientist who spearheaded the creation of the atomic bomb earned him the best actor award, where he expressed gratitude towards his co-stars and the acting community for their support.

Lily Gladstone secured the best actress award for her role in Apple’s Killers of the Flower Moon, acknowledging the solidarity shown by fellow SAG members during a challenging year marked by strikes. She emphasized the importance of storytelling in acting, highlighting its role in fostering empathy and humanizing individuals.

Robert Downey Jr., co-starring in Oppenheimer, claimed the best supporting actor award, reflecting on his career journey and expressing appreciation for the recognition received. Da'Vine Joy Randolph won best supporting actress for the Focus Features film, emphasizing the privilege of being a working actor and acknowledging the support of fellow artists.

In the television categories, HBO’s Succession secured the best ensemble in a drama series for its final season, while Pedro Pascal and Elizabeth Debicki won best actor and actress awards for their respective roles in The Last of Us and The Crown. FX’s The Bear triumphed in the TV comedy categories, with Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri winning best actor and actress awards.

The awards ceremony also featured recognition for stunt performances in TV and film, with HBO's The Last of Us and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One emerging as winners. The event culminated with a tribute to Barbra Streisand, who received the lifetime achievement award for her groundbreaking contributions to the entertainment industry.

The evening celebrated the resilience and talent of actors, with a special acknowledgment of the solidarity displayed during the SAG-AFTRA strike.
