OPINION - The Leader podcast: King Charles III’s coronation explained

Ahead of the coronation of King Charles III on Saturday, ceremony planning and rehearsals have been taking place on the streets of London.

For the 2023 ceremony, there will be a march through the streets of the capital, King Charles will travel a short distance in the Gold State Coach, and he will be crowned with the St Edward's Crown.

But where and when were these traditions born?

Dr George Gross, a research fellow at King’s College London specialising in the history of coronations discusses the history behind the traditional coronation ceremony, and how King Charle III’s will differ from previous celebrations.

Plus, the Evening Standard’s Emma Loffhagen explains who is and is not on the guestlist for the event, and how the public will celebrate the occasion.
