OPINION: Scalia conspiracy theories keep swirling

Feb. 17--I don't mean to sound conspiratorial, but I think the people spinning conspiracy theories about the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia may be up to something.

The plots they're spouting on the Internet and the airwaves seem a little too cut and dried. And that, for me, one of America's leading conspiracy-theory conspiracy theorists, raises many red flags.

Let's consider the facts as we know them:

-- Scalia was found dead in his bed at a Texas hunting ranch with "a pillow over his head," according to the ranch's owner, who found him.

-- There were no signs of foul play, and investigators say he died of "natural causes."

-- Scalia's family did not request an autopsy.

The conclusion is obvious, at least for some members of America's lunkhead-ocracy: President Barack Obama had the arch-conservative justice assassinated in order to clear space on the Supreme Court for a radical leftist who will assist the president in his mission to eliminate the Second Amendment, destroy the rest of the Constitution, enslave all white people and rule over America forever.

Radio host Alex Jones posted an "emergency transmission" the day after Scalia's death, saying: "You'd have to have your head examined if you didn't question whether Scalia was killed."

Jones also noted how insane it is to think an overweight, 79-year-old smoker might die of natural causes: "I wish it was natural causes, but man, my gut tells me, you know ..."

Oh, I know.

Jones said: "And you're like, 'Whoa. Red flag.' Then you realize, Obama is one vote away from being able to ban guns, open the borders and actually have the court engage in its agenda and now Scalia dies. I mean, this is hard core."

Michael Savage, whose "The Savage Nation" radio show has more than 5 million listeners, sees Scalia's death as nothing short of ... murder!

During his Monday broadcast, Savage asked GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump: "Donald, I need to come back to the topic we've been all screaming about here which is Scalia, was he murdered?"
