KURUKSHETRA: Under Operation Aakraman against menace of drugs initiated by Kurukshetra police on Monday, 46 cases have been registered on a single day and 47 accused were held following recovery of drugs, arms, gambling money, etc from their possession.
Kurukshetra police deputed 15 teams to crack whip on drug smugglers as per order of superintendent of police Surender Singh Bhoria.
Kurukshetra police spokesman told that 30 cases were registered under Excise Act involving arrests of 30 accused with recovery of liquor i.e. 195 bottles of English and countrymade liquor, 90 illicit bottles, 665 litres homemade lahan (liquor). He said 8 cases were registered under Public Gambling Act, with arrests of 8 accused and recovery of Rs 14,850 gambling cash from their possession.
The spokesman added that four cases were registered under the NDPS Act, involving arrests of 5 accused people, and recovery of drugs i.e.105gm smack (heroin), 60gm opium, 2kg ganja (marijuana).
The police have also arrested four proclaimed offenders.
Also, a resident of Rajasthan, Parsa Ram of Gajjewala village in Bikaner district was arrested with a pistol, a magazine and two live cartridges.
