Opera-singing care home worker belts out spine-tingling tune to cheer people up

A talented Hamilton key worker with a big heart and a big voice is helping to raise the spirits of others with his singing during the coronavirus crisis.

Carer William Boyle, who works at Whitehills Care Home in East Kilbride, has recorded a video of himself singing the hymn How Great Thou Art in a bid to cheer people up.

William is no stranger to singing and became an online sensation after he was caught on camera belting out Nessun Dorma on a train, and he now performs for the residents with dementia at the care home.

He gained online fame after he was secretly filmed some years ago singing the opera classic on the last train home to Hamilton from Glasgow.

The footage got thousands of hits after we posted it on our website.

The 29-year-old explained: “I have been working through this pandemic like millions of others and I made this video of myself singing How Great Thou Art to make people smile and lift spirits.

“I also sing this to my amazing residents who suffer with dementia.”

William was also a regular singer in pubs and club across Lanarkshire.
