Opening date set for new INNSiDE Liverpool hotel at former Echo building

A new 207-room hotel is set to open in the heart of Liverpool's commercial district this August, inside the former Echo and Daily Post building.

Spanish hotel group Melia has announced the upcoming opening of INNSiDE Liverpool, which will also include a restaurant, sky bar, conference and event space, and gym.

The building on Old Hall Street hopes to give a new lease of life to one of the city's most iconic buildings, with parts of the pre-existing site having been preserved.

It follows over three years of "extensive redevelopment", with construction works delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Garry Fortune, cluster general manager, UK North at INNSiDE by Meliá, said: “The past 12 months has been exceptionally tough for so many, not least those in the hospitality industry, but we are thrilled to be launching our third UK INNSiDE by Meliá property in the heart of Liverpool this summer.

"As a group, INNSiDE by Melia has gone from strength to strength following the launch of our Manchester site in 2015 and the brand new INNSiDE Newcastle set to open this spring.

"With a further two sites in the pipeline, it has been gratifying to see the brand so well received as we strengthen our roots in prime locations in the North’s most diverse cultural hubs.”

The new facility will include an open-plan lobby as well as a 140-capacity destination restaurant and 24-hour fitness gym. That's as well as a 360-degree sky bar on the 18th floor, offering views over the city and River Mersey.

For business travellers, the hotel will also offer seven adaptable meeting rooms including the Big Idea Space, alongside others such as The News Room, The Printing Press and The Post Room.

A dedicated events floor with capacity for over 340 people and separate catering breakout is also included in the hotel.
