Opening date revealed for new Mansfield Lidl store

Budget German supermarket giant Lidl has provided an update on its new Mansfield Woodhouse store.

The retailer was granted planning permission for its new supermarket on Leeming Lane South in 2019, with construction in its final stages.

The store, which will be located close to an Aldi supermarket, is expected to bring 40 jobs to the town once it opens.

The new supermarket will feature a large sales area, an in-store bakery, toilets and "ample car parking" for both cars and bicycles.

It comes as part of Lidl's £1.45 billion investment in expansion across the country, with the German retailer opening large numbers of stores nationally.

Providing an update on the new Mansfield store, the company says construction is nearing completion at the site with plans to open in the winter.

Dominic Bryan, Lidl GB’s regional head of property, said: “There’s been much anticipation for this new Lidl store and it’s great that we are now entering the final stages of the development.

"We are extremely grateful for all the support that we have received so far and would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding whilst we enter this next phase of the development."
