Opening date announced for huge 10-metre climbing course near Nottinghamshire

A huge new climbing frame is coming to Long Eaton - and a date has been announced for when it officially opens.

Sky Trail is set to open this Saturday, December 21, according to DerbyshireLive.

The 10-metre high attraction, in Wilsthorpe Road, has challenges for 5-12 year olds and adults.

The attraction's website says users will experience "high level thrills" on the adventure course which is "one of only a few in the country".

Sky Trail involves two levels along which people would walk on narrow beams, holding onto a series of ropes for support, and on moving obstacles such as swings and small platforms.

There is also a "dare you walk the plank?" activity.

Entry is priced at £8.50 for adults and £6.50 for children up to 16.

The attraction has been built on an area of grass bordering the car park and main entrance at West Park Leisure Centre.

Erewash Borough Council approved the plans in May this year.

A controversial agreement to hand over the running of the council’s five centres, which includes West Park, to Parkwood Leisure, was sealed in November. The formal switch will take place in February.

More than £1 million will be invested in the centres as part of the deal which will see a Parkwood run the council's leisure centres for up to 15 years.
