Just because a film is intended for children doesn't mean it has nothing to offer adults. In recent years Pixar's output has set a high benchmark with a string of well-loved films that have genuine cross-generational appeal, while older movies like The Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins and Mac and Me (OK, maybe not so much Mac and Me) are watched and enjoyed by young and old audiences year after year.

Killer Joe: Strong performances all round in this violent Southern gothic thriller by William Friedkin
Killer Joe – Loud, brash, mean, and with plenty of style. However, its substance is as questionable as a bucket of KFC.
The Five-Year Engagement – Judd Apatow-lite taken up a notch by awesome performances by Jason Segel and Emily Blunt.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter – outstandingly awful, should've taken itself less seriously and played humour
Snow White: Dark with great visuals and excellent cameos, but let down by a lack of precision in its direction.
God Bless America: A sublime slice of anarchy that fires up the brain cells whilst providing mindless hilarity.
