The second weekend of Doors Open Days takes place on Saturday or Sunday.
Following a successful weekend across the region last week, buildings in Perth city will be opening their doors to the public on Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15.
Residents and visitors alike will be able to explore these buildings, some of which are not normally open to the public.
This includes the library room of the Perthshire Society of Natural Sciences and the Guildry Incorporation of Perth, both on George Street, Perth Sheriff Court and Perth and Kinross Council buildings.
The headquarters of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society in the Fair Maid’s House, North Port, will also be open this weekend, as will the house of Perth poet William Soutar on Wilson Street.
A number of churches are taking part in this weekend’s event, including St Ninian’s Cathedral, Perth North Church, St John’s Kirk and St Mary’s Monastery and Retreat.
A spokesperson for St Ninian’s said: “Come and see the newly restored cathedral with its stunning architecture and beautiful stained glass.
“Join us in celebrating St Ninian’s Day and enjoy the cathedral’s treasures, live music and artists’ exhibitions and drop in for a guided tour, children’s activities and refreshments.
“Music will be performed throughout the day by the cathedral musicians.
“Local artists’ work will be on display and visitors will have an opportunity to get involved as Roz Arno-Button, mixed media artist, constructs a three-dimensional structure based on the natural world and our responses to the natural environment.
“Guided tours of the cathedral will be at 11am and 2pm, and refreshments will be in the Chapter House.”
The usual favourites such as AK Bell Library and Perth Museum and Art Gallery will also be taking part in Doors Open Days.
A spokesperson for Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust said: “Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust has put together a rich and varied programme that shines a spotlight on the historic and current build environment of Perth and Kinross.
“Architectural highlights in this year’s programme range from vernacular buildings to grand classical designs.
“Some venues have been recently refurbished and we are keen to show why repairing our historic buildings is better than replacing them.
“Other veues are gearing up for new conservation work and welcome all the community interest and support they can get.”
As this year’s Doors Open Days coincides with Perthshire Open Studios, a number of venues will be hosting art exhibitions, pop-up galleries and artists-in-residence.
And new for this year, residents will be able to get free bike checks and minor repairs done at Perth Subud Centre on St Leonard’s Bank on Saturday.
