Ireland's Shane Lowry will take a four shot lead and a nation's support into the final round at The Open Championship after breaking the course record with an astonishing 63.
Lowry began the day in a share of the lead with JB Holmes but a staggering, attacking third round put him well clear of the pack as the home fans roared the 32-year-old from south of the border around this corner of the northern coast.
He will be joined in the final group by Tommy Fleetwood, who started fast alongside Lee Westwood before the latter fell away somewhat on the back nine, shooting a one under 70. Fleetwood did not drop a single shot on his way to a five under 66, but the brilliance of Lowry means he has work to do come Sunday.
The R&A announced towards the end of the third round that, due to the adverse weather forecast for Sunday, the tee times would be brought forward, meaning the final group will go out at 1:47pm.
