Alan Shearer has sung Raphael Varane's praises following his Manchester United debut against Wolverhampton.
Varane arrived at Manchester United this summer from Spanish giants Real Madrid, but he has had to bide his time in order to make his first appearance in a United shirt.
Two weeks after his official announcement and unveiling at Old Trafford, Varane was finally able to start for United in the club's visit to Wolverhampton.
And the French World Cup winner caught the eye slotting alongside Harry Maguire with ease.
Varane played a crucial role in United's victory too springing the pass out-wide which led to Mason Greenwood scoring the winner.
And Alan Shearer writing on the Premier League's official website was impressed by the new United centre-back.
"[He] Oozed class and was calmness personified under pressure as Wolves mounted several attacks. Not a bad start to his Premier League career," Shearer said.
Varane's performance against Wolverhampton was just a small sample of what the defender is capable of. Considering that was his first game in English football and for the club, there is more to come.
Given time, Varane is likely to get even better as he adjusts to his new teammates and the pace and rhythm of the Premier League.
Varane has joined up with the French senior national team to participate in their World Cup qualifiers before returning to the club next week.
United's next opponents will be Newcastle at Old Trafford and Varane will be eager to continue his good form.
The club's schedule is going to increase as United will embark on their Champions League campaign upon his return.
The defender has certainly justified his £35m price-tag so far and fans will be hoping he continues to ooze class.
