A residential community in Ilkeston lifted spirits by taking part in a street party on their driveways - while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
While households across the country remain in lockdown, weekend entertainment for many has involved staying indoors with whatever is showing on the box.
But with the warm weather and lighter evenings you'd be forgiven for wanting to venture outside - if only onto your street.
With the success of two weeks of 'Clap for Carers' on Thursday evenings, one neighbourhood decided to take the social event one step further with a socially distanced street party.
Yvonne Kenny, 52, has lived in Shipley View estate in Ilkeston for the past 20 years but said she only knew a handful of her neighbours.
After glimpsing fellow residents for a few minutes each week, she felt it was time to reach out.
Mrs Kenny said: "It was really nice to finally meet people. The last two Thursdays we've seen everyone come out for the 8pm clap and there were people I'd never seen before.
"We have a couple of nurses on the street - my husband being one of them - and a Co-op worker, and they've all been getting a cheer.
"I was in the garden with my son and we had the music playing and I just thought it would be nice to get everyone together to enjoy it.
"We set up a Facebook group with neighbours to let them know what we had planned."
Mrs Kenny's son, Leon, 22, put together a playlist of songs with requests from the Facebook group to ensure everyone could be involved.
She added: "We just used a standard domestic speaker propped up on a stepladder, but around 40 people came out - whole families.
"We managed to do an 'Oops upside your head' dance three metres apart!
"I just wanted to take that community spirit that we have seen, a step further.
"Everyone's fed up of staying in every night and just watching telly.
"We will be staying in touch now, and when this is all over we have decided to have a proper street party and shake hands."

One of the attendees was Sarah Mawer, 44, who has lived in the area for 18 years and said the event helped bring everyone a little closer together (metaphorically, of course).
"Even some of the newer neighbours got involved, and everyone observed the social distancing rules," she said.
"We had deliveries from the local chippy and everyone brought out their own drinks.
"It really makes you appreciate your neighbours, knowing that we're all going through this together.
"There was a real mixture of ages, couples, families - all the kids were enjoying it too. It's just a bit of escapism.
"It started at 6pm and went on until 10pm with plenty of dancing and singing."
